Celebrating 30 Years of Second Chances

In 2024, Second Chance Pets celebrates 30 years of giving second chances to dogs and cats in the Clear Lake area of Houston/Galveston Counties. Over the past three decades, we have rehomed approximately 8,000 animals. We've faced challenges like winter storms, hurricanes, pandemics, and floods, but we've always ensured our furry friends' safety and well-being.

Our Mission

Second Chance Pets, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, advocates for animals through responsible rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of cats and dogs. We aim to give every animal a loving, permanent home.

Our Community

We depend on dedicated foster families and volunteers who open their hearts and homes to needy animals. Our partnerships with organizations like Bay Area Pet Adoptions (BAPA) strengthen our efforts and expand our reach. We welcome everyone to volunteer with us. For safety reasons, volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

2023 Accomplishments

In 2023, Second Chance Pets:

  • Found forever homes for 141 pets in our foster care program (86 cats and 55 dogs).

  • Rescued animals with costly special medical needs, such as surgery, heartworm treatment, and major dental care.

  • Sponsored sterilization surgery and rabies vaccination for feral/community cats.

  • Covered over pet medical bills for pet owners in financial need through our WOOFF/Compassion Fund.

  • Provided over funds for community program support and shelter pet medical care.

Join Us

Second Chance Pets is committed to giving each rescued animal a second chance at life and a forever home. Join us in rescuing, nurturing, and rehoming cats and dogs in need. Whether you assist at events, foster a pet, or help out behind the scenes, your efforts make a significant impact. Together, we can transform the lives of countless animals and bring happiness to families in our community. Everyone is welcome to volunteer with us!

Additionally, monetary donations are crucial, making up almost half of our annual budget. There are many ways to contribute financially, and your donations help us continue our rescue mission and rehome animals in need.
