Information for Foster Homes

Thank you for taking the time and effort required to be a foster parent. Because of you, an animal now has a second chance at life. The foster care program is the most important part of Second Chance Pets. Without your help, we would not have places to keep all of the animals who are looking for homes.

Time and Place
Adoptions are held every Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every Saturday at the PetCo on Bay Area Boulevard and Space Center Boulevard.

When you arrive at the adoption location, please check in. Your help setting up and taking down your pet's cage is greatly appreciated.

Routine Veterinary Care
Several local veterinary clinics support the Second Chance Pets program. Second Chance Pets must coordinate all services in advance to ensure that we do not exceed the level of service each clinic has agreed to supply and so that we can monitor our budget expenditures carefully. If your foster animal needs routine medical attention, you must call SCP at 281-286-3535 and a foster coordinator will get back to you about scheduling an appointment at one of the clinics that we use.

Emergency Veterinary Care
For critical, life-threatening medical emergencies only, there are two after-hours clinics in the area: Gulf freeway at Calder Road (League City area) and Gulf Freeway at Monroe. Care at these clinics is extremely costly, and should be used only for dire emergency situations.
