Early November: We had a volunteer come into the store one Saturday shaking and crying carrying a box marked "Please help." It was taped up and nothing seemed to be moving around inside. The box was left on the side of the road. We took the box to the bathroom to open it up. Sadly, there was what we thought to be a kitten. This sweet baby was severely dehydrated, her white fur was completely stained yellow, and she was not moving around much at all. Her sweet little body was without any energy and it appeared she had been without food or water for quite some time. We rushed her to the only vet that could see her and they gave her fluids immediately. She ate for us, which is a very good thing. The vet said that while she only weighs 2.5 lbs, she has all of her adult teeth and is estimated to be around 6-7 months old! A 6-7 month old kitten should weigh 6-7 lbs! This precious girl is severely malnourished and has suffered extreme neglect. We have her in a foster home now and we are going to do our best for her. When she gets healthy, she is going to be a beautiful medium-haired calico. We have named her Chiffon.

Early January:  Chiffon is now nice and healthy and has put on a lot of weight! She is fully vetted now and is ready to find a new home to call her own! She has grown into a true beauty but is still very small- she is a mini cat. She gets along with pretty much all animals, if calm, and she enjoys meeting new people! Send us an email if you are interested in meeting this little survivor!

The cat adoption fee is $110 (or $175 for two cats). Second Chance Pets is a foster-based organization so all animals live in foster homes throughout the area. Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Petco Clear Lake store located at 2410 Bay Area Boulevard (at Space Center). All cats are spayed/neutered, tested for FIV and feline leukemia, fully vaccinated, dewormed, defleaed and microchipped. If interested in one of our cats please feel free to complete an application, found on our website www.secondchancepets.org, and return it to us for pre-review. We do not have a phone number so please email us at pets2adopt@yahoo.com or come visit with us on Saturday!
