SPECIAL PETS
We have several cats and dogs who, for one reason or another, cannot be brought to Saturday adoptions. The adoptions can be a very stressful experience, especially for cats. These cats are loving and affectionate in their foster homes, but are so distressed by the adoptions that their behavior become unpredictable and they may scratch or bite someone.
Then there is a dog like Hannah, who finds adoptions so stressful that she gets aggressive, even though at home she's a sweet, loving dog who would do anything to please her owner.
If you see a cat or dog on the list that you would like to meet, please call 281-286-3535 and let us know who you're interested in. We'll contact the foster home and arrange for you to meet the animal in an environment in which it is comfortable and relaxed.

Tutheren is four years old now, and has been with Second Chance Pets since he was a puppy. He came to us with a bad case of demodectic mange, and although the mange has been treated, he continues to have skin problems due to allergies. He takes prednizone to keep the itching under control.
Tutheren is a very sweet and loving dog. He is shy in public, so going to adoptions is stressful for him, but at home he is playful and affectionate. He does fine with other dogs, but we don't know how he is with cats. We don't anticipate there would be any problem with children.

Serena is a beautiful large, solid black female cat. Before she came into our program, she was living as a stray in an apartment project where she and other stray cats were being abused by the residents. When Serena was brought to us, she had a broken leg and a bad infection. She is completely well now and is looking for a good home where she can be your only pet. She needs--and deserves--lots of TLC and spoiling since she's missed out on so much in life! Won't you give Serena a happy home??
Serena does not do well at adoptions so please e-mail us to set up an appointment to meet her.

Samantha is a 6-year-old rottweiler (mix?) who needs a home with people who have had experience with a stubborn large dog! She is extremely loyal, but tries to dominate -- behavior that needs to be checked. We don't recommend that she be in a household with children.
She is about 85 pounds, and is loving and playful. She is fine with other dogs, and likes to play, but shows some food aggression. She is extremely affectionate, but needs a firm hand.

This beautiful girl is Puffin. She's an awesome and loving girl who was abandoned at a gas station. She LOVES people and will follow you around like a dog!
She is very large for a female. She is 100% house trained. She DOES NOT like other cats and only tolerates calm dogs

Wynonna had a bad case of demodectic mange, and although it has been treated, she still needs to grow her hair back.
She is five or six years old. She is an alpha and is not good with female dogs, although seems fine with males. We don't recommend her around cats, and she seems apprehensive of very young children. That could be only because they hover over her when she is in a crate. Outside the crate she seems fine. She is very loving.
